If this sensor fails the ECU will throw the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync and could indicate the chain is stretched or a jump link on the upper chain of timing. However, the error code won't appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).
It is a little tricky to test because there are different pins on the connector and they all have different functions. The best way to do it is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. If the sensor is operational, it should read about 1000 ohms. Check for signs of coolant, or oil in the connector bay if you have issues with this part.
2. Injectors
Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll i had massive power loss like the engine is running out of gas or injectors are not firing anymore. I took out the spark plugs this morning, 3 were soaked with gasoline and the 4th was dry. I placed a tissue over each injector hole, and when I start the engine without sparks, the ones that have gazoline pop right out. The 4th one remains shut. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I got zero ohm. I assume that the problem is somewhere else.
I also tried to reset the PID with no success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it is running fine with the G28 plugged in. However, the intermittent misfire problem still occurs at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temp value that is -49c even after unplugging it. Also i noticed that the oil pressure gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.0 if i crank up the engine.
I'm not sure what to do, i think i've pretty much eliminated everything else. I'm afraid i may have missed something. Let me know should you have any suggestions! TIA!
3. Fuel Pump
The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is similar to the G4 sender and works on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily locate an extra in a wrecking shop or a parts store. Testing them is easy to do - just put your DMM in resistance mode and take measurements between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's end up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black connector's end). They must be infinite ohms.
