If this sensor fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This means that the Crank Shaft is not in alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of an issue with the chain or a jump in the chain link of the upper timing chain. The code will not appear without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).
It is a little tricky to test as there are different pins on the connector and they all have different functions. The best method for doing this is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read about 1000 ohms when it is at full operation. If you're having issues with this sensor, look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay.
2. Injectors
Yesterday, as i was accelerating off the highway paytoll at a high speed, i noticed a huge drop in power. It was as if the engine was running out of gas. Or my injectors weren't firing. I took out the spark plugs this morning, 3 were soaked in gasoline, and the 4th was dry. I placed a tissue over each hole in the injector and when i turn the engine on without sparks, the 3 with gazoline jump out. The 4th one stays shut. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I found 0ohm. I think the issue is elsewhere.
I also tried to reset PID but without success. The car is able to start if the G28 is not plugged in and runs fine when it is connected, but still is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The coolant sensor Audi spare key (G62) even when unplugged, still shows a temperature of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar while the actual pressure is zero.
I'm not sure what to do, but i believe that i've ruled out everything else. I'm worried that i might have missed something. Please let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!
